Hayate meets a girl named Athena while running away from his no-good parents. Under Athena's persuasion, they live together in a mysterious castle, the Royal Garden, "where Gods live". It's a place where time seems to pass slower as well. Athena takes a liking to Hayate and makes him her butler, and they kind of go out together... She's always training him to becoming stronger so that girls he dates won't have to worry about anything. They promise to be together always, and exchange rings.
Hayate doesn't want to stay in the castle forever though, and believes that he can change his gambling parents. When he leaves the castle temporarily, he meets his parents and has the ring that Athena gave him tricked away from him. He returns to the castle and Athena already found out that his parents sold the precious ring she gave Hayate. Out of rage, Athena duels Hayate. He sees that there's some kind of evil spirit (supposedly from the coffin Athena told Hayate not to touch before) controlling Athena. Hayate is told to leave and never come back to the castle...


Chapter 187 - THE END OF THE WORLD 10 Waiting Until the Rain Stops
After being kicked out of the castle, Hayate wanders around the streets aimlessly in the rain. He falls and hallucinates that Athena, just like when they first met, came to help him back on his feet again. Coming back to reality, he continues to wander around until the elder Ayasaki brother, who seems to be in high school, spots him. Hayate tells him that he argued and said mean things to a girl who is very important to him. His brother suggests to go apologize after the rain stops.
The next time Hayate tried to find Athena, he couldn't find the castle anymore. In place, there's a sign that says the Hakuou campus is under construction. Never again was he able to meet Athena, and so he resolved to become stronger. He admits that he was wrong ten years ago (about how his parents cannot be changed), and that Athena was ultimately right. Hayate mentally notes that there are two things he wants to tell Athena if he ever meets her again.

We find that Athena is in *gasp* ATHENS. No joke. She has a new butler now, but she still misses Hayate. "Even though I've cried my tears dry that day, you still appear in my dreams..." Athena thinks that someone probably took something out of the coffin from the castle outside. She notes that "before Sanzenin Mikado steals 'it', if the road is not opened again by then", she will have to go to the Royal Garden once again. (Not sure of the accuracy of this last part, Chinese scanlations were funny sounding.)

Well, we're finally back to the present with this latest chapter. Looks like Athena is going to seek revenge from Sanzenin Mikado. And I thought Himegami was going to come back first, since there was a shadow of him from the chapter of Sakuya's birthday party.
Also, a thing to note is that before Hayate's brother (who doesn't have a name yet?) saw Hayate, he was talking to a woman whose face we don't see. Speculations are that she's Sanzenin Yukariko (Nagi's mother). There's actually a pretty wild rumour out a few days ago that said Hayate's brother and Yukariko had Nagi, which would make Hayate Nagi's uncle. If that was true, then that means the official coupling will be separated by... well, the fact that it would be incest. And that's not good.
